Invisalign Clear Aligners in Caringbah
Straighten Your Smile with Invisalign® at Jacaranda Dental
|
If you’ve been thinking about straightening your teeth but don’t like the idea of traditional braces, Invisalign® clear aligners could be the ideal solution.
At Jacaranda Dental, I provide Invisalign treatment for teenagers and adults looking to improve the appearance, function and long-term health of their smile. As an Invisalign-certified general dentist with extensive experience in orthodontic treatment, I enjoy helping patients achieve straighter teeth using modern digital technology and personalised treatment planning.
Whether you’re concerned about crowded teeth, gaps, bite problems or teeth that have shifted over time, Invisalign can often provide a comfortable, discreet and predictable way to improve your smile.
What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is a modern orthodontic treatment that uses a series of custom-made, clear plastic aligners to gently move your teeth into better positions.
Each aligner is worn for one week before progressing to the next in the series. Small, carefully planned movements gradually straighten your teeth and improve your bite until treatment is complete.
Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign aligners are removable. This means you can continue to enjoy your favourite foods and maintain your normal brushing and flossing routine throughout treatment.
Because the aligners are virtually invisible, most people won’t even notice you’re wearing them.
Why Choose Jacaranda Dental for Invisalign?
Choosing Invisalign isn’t just about straightening teeth—it’s about improving your smile in a way that’s healthy, functional and built to last.
As a general dentist, I take a comprehensive approach to orthodontic treatment. I’m not simply focused on making teeth look straight. I’m also thinking about how your bite functions, how your teeth will wear over time and whether moving them now may make future dental treatment simpler and more predictable.
I have a rule of thumb. If I can’t see how I will solve all the particular problems at the first visit, then I refer to a trusted local orthodontist.
I mainly refer growing teenage patients who can benefit from growth modification.
I think most adults can make the choice to improve the appearance and longevity of their teeth without achieving a perfect occlusion but this is always the goal in young people.
In children and teenagers, you set them up to have fewer dental problems in life.
In adults you correct the dental problems that have come from having a bad bite over the years. Chipped edges, uneven front teeth and uneven gum lines can all be restored in a predictable way, once the bite problems are addressed. Resin bonding or porcelain veneers will last much longer if the positions of the teeth are corrected first.
In some cases, jaw joint pain can be improved by moving the teeth and correcting the
Personalised Treatment Planning
Every smile is different.
Before recommending treatment, I carefully assess:
- Your bite and tooth alignment
- Crowding and spacing
- Jaw function
- Gum health
- Existing dental work
- Your goals and expectations
If I believe another treatment—or referral to an orthodontic specialist—would provide a better outcome, I’ll always discuss that with you. My priority is recommending the treatment that’s best for you.
See Your Future Smile Before Treatment Begins

At Jacaranda Dental, we use the iTero digital scanner to create precise 3D images of your teeth.
This allows me to digitally plan every stage of treatment before your first aligner is even made.
One of the most exciting parts of the consultation is being able to show you a simulation of how your smile could look after treatment. Seeing those changes before you begin helps many patients feel confident about their decision to proceed.
Invisalign vs Traditional Braces
One of the most common questions I hear is, “Which is better—Invisalign or braces?”
The answer depends entirely on your individual situation.
Both systems can produce excellent results when used for the right patient.
Invisalign may be the better choice if you:
- Want a discreet orthodontic treatment
- Prefer removable aligners
- Are committed to wearing them for 20–22 hours each day
- Value the convenience of brushing and flossing normally
Traditional braces may be the better option if you:
- Have particularly complex orthodontic problems
- Need significant tooth movement or bite correction
- Would prefer a treatment that doesn’t rely on remembering to wear aligners
During your consultation, I’ll explain the advantages and limitations of each option so you can make an informed decision.
Our Approach to Orthodontic Treatment
Orthodontic treatment is never one-size-fits-all. Before recommending Invisalign, I ask four important questions.
What are we trying to achieve?
Others want to improve their bite, reduce uneven tooth wear, create space before cosmetic dentistry or address long-standing functional problems.
Understanding the goal allows me to recommend the most appropriate treatment.
Is Invisalign the right option?
If straightening teeth with aligners is the chosen option, I only use Invisalign, I don’t use the cheaper alternatives.
Many patients are excellent candidates for Invisalign.
Others will achieve a better result with braces.
We’ll discuss both options openly, including the advantages, limitations and expected outcomes, so you can choose the treatment that best suits your lifestyle and goals.
Some teenagers are better off with braces.
How will we maintain your result?
Straightening teeth is only part of the process.
Keeping them straight is just as important.
After treatment, I recommend retainers to maintain your new smile. Most patients receive a fixed lower retainer together with removable retainers for ongoing night-time wear.

Frequently Asked Questions, ANSWERED!
How much does Invisalign cost?
The cost of Invisalign depends on the amount of straightening and bite correction required.
Invisalign comes in packages
- Express. This includes 2 lots of 7 aligners and is very limited to mild correction. It mostly applies to people who have had braces but didn’t wear their retainers for a few months and the teeth have started to move.
- Lite. This includes 2 lots of 14 aligners. There is slightly more scope in this package but it still most commonly applies to relapse of already straightened teeth.
- Moderate. Most cases can be done with a moderate package. This gives unlimited lots of 26 aligners that can be ordered over a 2 year period.
- Comprehensive. This allows an unlimited number of aligners and can be extended from 3 to 5 years. It’s great for growing kids because you can straighten the teeth and fix the bite in the growth spurt, then monitor how they continue to grow and intervene again if needed. They just wear retainers at night in the monitoring phase ( There’s no way you want to leave braces on for 5 years to monitor growth). It’s also needed in adults who need teeth removed in order to correct the crowding and the bite.
The cost at Jacaranda Dental ranges from $3,300 to $9,100.
Do you have payment plans?
Yes
We offer Interest free payment plans that are set up through Westpac Payway.
There are quite flexible and payments can be made weekly or monthly.
What does the cost of Invisalign include?
Initial consultation that includes examination, Xrays and Digital scans.
Refinements within the chosen package ( an extra fee may apply for non-compliance).
All the visits.
A lower wire retainer and 1 set of Invisalign, “Vivera” retainers.
Do I get anything back from my health fund for Invisalign?
If you have a high level of “extras” cover in your insurance you may receive a rebate. This might cover a quarter to a third of the cost.
It’s best to check the circumstances of your particular fund and type of cover as they vary greatly. The rebate cannot be checked through a HICAPS terminal
Sometimes the rebate is better if the treatment spans several calendar years.
Sometimes the rebate is better if the treatment is carried out by an orthodontist
We can give you all the information you need after a consultation. You need the quoted cost, the item number and dentist provider number to get the answer from your insurance company.
What is the cost of bonding at the end of Invisalign treatment?
Simple repairs of an edge can cost as little as $200@.
More complex bonding may be $400@ if a quarter of the tooth is missing.
A bonded veneer might be needed to make a tooth look bigger, and this costs around $900@.
A porcelain veneer is around $2500@.
A quote can be provided before treatment so you know upfront.
What is a refinement?
This is an extra set of aligners that might be needed. There is a varied biological response to treatment and there is also the issue of poor patient compliance. This means that the aligners stop moving the teeth and become ill fitting. In order to make sure things remain on track, a new scan is taken and a new set of aligners is made that fit again perfectly. We can then pick up where we left off.
What is an attachment?
An attachment is a temporary “ handle” that is bonded to the tooth in order for the aligner to achieve the tooth movement needed.
They can be bonded to the inside of the teeth if the appearance of these is a particular concern.
What does Invisalign look like?

The attachments make the Aligners more visible. That can be placed on the inside surfaces if need be.
Can kids have Invisalign?
Can Invisalign be used when teeth need to be extracted for orthodontics?
Yes. Invisalign can be used in cases that need teeth to be removed so all the teeth can line up.
Sometimes I add additional attachments that are glued to the teeth in extraction cases.
Can Invisalign correct bites?
Yes. Invisalign can correct
.cross bites : side to side
.overbites : the upper front teeth cover too much of the lower front teeth when a patient bites together.
.overjets: When the front teeth stick out.
.underbites: Then the upper front teeth bite behind the lower front teeth.

Are Braces Cheaper?
Traditional metal braces usually range from $3,500 to $8,500, making them slightly more affordable on average than Invisalign. However, for minor corrections, shorter Invisalign treatments (like Invisalign Express) can sometimes be comparable in price to braces.
Do my teeth just go crooked again when it’s done?
They will if you don’t wear a retainer. Teeth have a natural “memory” and a tendency to shift back to their original positions over time. To maintain your straight smile, you will need to wear a retainer full-time initially, and then indefinitely at night. I usually place a wire retainer behind the lower front teeth and give a removable retainer for the upper. In some cases, patients also ask for an upper wire retainer.
Why do orthodontists still do more braces?
Orthodontists frequently use braces because they provide constant, 24/7 force and do not rely on patient compliance (since they cannot be removed).
Do wisdom teeth make your teeth get crooked again?
Not necessarily. Even patients who don’t form any wisdom teeth, will have their teeth move if they don’t wear a retainer.
I don't like this little change I see. Will it get worse over time?
Probably. But we can monitor subtle changes over time by taking digital scans a year apart and then see if crowding or wear gets worse.
Are there any advantages to seeing a general dentist to do Invisalign?
As a general dentist, I think there are.
- I have long term care in mind. I’m hoping to see you over many years past having orthodontic treatment so I’m committed to keeping your teeth straight long term. For example, when you come in for a regular check and clean, we make sure the wire retainers are still glued in place and fix them if need be.
- I can do the repair work that’s needed to fix the damage done by unevenly worn teeth. This might involve bonding or veneers.
Can I switch to braces if Invisalign “doesn’t work”?
Invisalign “works” if you wear the aligners as described.
You can switch, but your treatment will take longer and cost more.
It’s much better to decide from the outset, which option is better for you?
Every circumstance is different but, I usually charge $2000 for switching from Invisalign to Braces.
What do wire retainers look like?
They are glued behind the front teeth and cannot be seen from the front.
